“I would like a venti caramel macchiato with extra chocolate sauce on top.”
Maliyah typed the drive thru order into the computer, repeating it back to the customer and giving him his total. While her coworkers got the order ready, she went on to the next drive thru order. When the first order was ready, she opened the window to the most delicious sight she had ever seen. The man was creamy dark chocolate, with a nice gray suit on, long, clean locs, pulled into a bun, chiseled face with a clean beard connected to his side burns in a beautiful, black Mercedes. She dropped his drink out the window, she was so distracted.
“I am so sorry sir, let me get you another one,” she said, hurriedly closing the window before he could reply.
“Dre, can you get me another venti caramel macchiato?”
“But I just made you one.”
“I dropped it.”
“Can you just make me another one?”
“Fine,” he said, rolling his eyes.
She continued taking orders, ignoring the guy in the Mercedes, furiously waving his arms around outside the window, trying to get her attention. Once his order was ready, she took a deep breath and opened the window.
“Here’s your order sir, free of charge. Thank you and have a nice day.”
“Wait!” he yelled as she started to close the window.
“Did you not see me waving my arms around earlier trying to get your attention?”
“No,” she lied.
“Well, I was trying to tell you never mind about the coffee, since now, I am already late for work.”
“I am so sorry sir.”
“Stop calling me sir. My name is Jae.”
“I am sorry, Jae, that I…”
Cars began blowing their horns behind him, impatiently wanting their coffee. He kept that gorgeous smile on his face as he looked at her.
“I guess I better go then, and hey, don’t drop anyone else’s coffee today.”
With that he drove off, still smiling. Maliyah was so confused. Had he been flirting, or was he facetiously mocking her?
