Something on the Side by Carl Weber | Book Review

Rating: *****

This book was an excellent read simply because I have friends who are like ach of the characters. It also showcases the issues that women who are married, engaged or are in a relationship, go through. I closely relate to Egypt who because she doesn’t yet know what she really wants. She’s picky and has a lot going for herself, but she’s still single. I also relate to Isis because being in a relationship with someone for a long period of time and then finding out the whole relationship was a lie, is a bish.
I really got sucked in to the story and felt like I was a part of each one of them, or each one of them was a part of me. With Tammy, being in a relationship (I say relationship because I am not married and never have been) where your partner is not willing to please the way you need or want to be pleased, really hits home because I have been there too many times. Coco, sleeping around to get money and material things (though I never received such favors) is something I went through in college. Nikki, being with someone who is emotionally and mentally abusive and then turning around and being with someone who isn’t who they say they are.
It’s a whirlwind of emotions that I went through reading this book because I have lived each one of their lives. It is definitely a must read. I read it in one day and it’s 500+ pages long.
